Wild Ponies

We have the girls staying with us for the first stint of summer holiday childcare, and today I'd booked to take them to an event called 'creating creatures' at the RSPB nature reserve in Conwy.  They really enjoyed collecting different kinds of bugs and then creating their own creature out of sticks and leaves - Violet made a centipede and Scarlett made a butterfly.

We than had a picnic lunch before going in search of the wild Carneddau ponies that graze on the reserve.  Luckily we found the heard by the lake,  and it appears that a couple more of the mares may be pregnant - the girl who held the event said that they've been very lucky with breeding on the reserve and they've had about 15 foals so far.  The ponies come from the Carneddau mountains nearby and are very hardy ponies, they stay on the reserve for some time before being taken back to the mountains and then more are brought down to graze.  They can't stay on the reserve for too long, because they start to become too friendly and used to people which isn't good for them.  I've added an extra of a beautiful white pony that was watching us

I had to take Bobbie to the vets again this afternoon as he's got an ear infection again.  The vet said he couldn't even look down his ear as it's so blocked with wax, so tomorrow I have to take him back to be sedated so that it can all be cleared out, poor boy!
