Just down the road

Peaceful here. A pleasant day - I've been reading and sewing and sorting photos (interesting as they are from 2008).

But just down the road (our usually quiet road that we use to get into Appleby) is this (extras). Forget your cutesy gypsy caravans, forget the photogenic washing of horses in the river, those are the decorative bits for the spectators and photographers. This is where the Real Fair is. It's horse trading - racing horses back and forth and huge sums of money changing hands. Not many onlookers get this far and it is quite scary. (I will go nowhere near - these are Gordon's photos he took whilst running past this afternoon). And it goes on all over the weekend. It's no wonder that some of the shops in Appleby have closed for fear of infection.
