Surprise spoonbill

Day out to Blacktoft Sands RSPB on the Humber Estuary- we were on the trail of Bearded Tits - and clearly we are going to need some persistance for that!
Delighted though to see this passing visitor which apparently flew in this morning. We were recommended Alkborough Flatts - completely new to me - and given it’s out of the wayness - probably to a lot of people! Not far as the crow (or spoonbill!) flies but a 19 mile drive into Lincolnshire- another spoonbill here, and a pair flying in. A French feel to those quiet country roads, flat fields of golden ears of wheat, and a fabulous field of sunflowers - in extras - giving a sunny feel to an otherwise murky grey day
