Messing about in boats

Up betimes for a reasonably early drive down to Flotterstone with C and K, to do a variation of this walk. The variation involved using a part of the Pentland Way long distance footpath to drop down the round the south west side of Castlelaw Hill along a path through the heather. A new path to us, but a lovely one. In fact, the whole walk was considerably improved by the fact that it was peak heather. I've added a few extras. The weather was quite mixed - sunshine, wind, and rain. Well, it is Scotland in August, isn't it? Back to the Flotterstone car park where, after a bit of a wait, we enjoyed superb coffee and cake, and then home before a quick turn around before out to Heron for a very late lunch (which finished at 5pm...). Heron is a new fine dining restaurant on The Shore and is very much worth the trip. We were lucky to be treated by C and K - a sort of combined celebration of our various statement birthdays.

After a rest in our respective homes, we concluded the day with a wine and cheese get together at ours. By then, however, we were all so tired the wine was simply making us sleepy, so it wasn't a late one!
