Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Sea Stars

The Sea Stars have never come back from the wasting disease they had in 2013 which devastated them on the West coast.   I’ve seen maybe 4.   This one is dead, probably dropped on the dock by a seagull.

Our friend on Sphinx showed us how most of the barnacles on their rocks just fried themselves to death in that horrid heat wave in June.    Ours seem to have fared better… shadier here maybe.  (extra)

Worked hard today..,. am getting very good a tossing stuff in the garbage bags.  Especially since we learned there is a new garbage service on Galiano where we will definitely be dropping off our many bags.   Normally I’d try to gift or recycle…now it’s just GONE  Actually we are doing the “death cleaning” of the cabin …it will end up much better off minus a lot of stuff.   Shame on us for bringing all that old stuff up.   And all those outdated cans are gone. too.

Then our neighbor from across the bay came over for a long catch up on our porch.    He’s been watching over our place for which we are grateful…( except for the mice.)  Had another lead for a cleaner to come but it fell through.  MY paranoia is thinking no one wants to work for Americans but it’s probably just the mice.  This neighbor (2nd extra) had a helicopter leasing company at one time… he says the fires are the governments’ fault for not using the helicopters right and timely, or there would be less fires.

And the rainstorm???? what rainstorm?  It threatened briefly and then disappeared with none in sight.
