A ‘Duvet Day’

I was feeling tired today and lacking in motivation, so I decided to have a ‘duvet day’ and started watching Downton Abbey from the beginning. Always interesting to see how characters changed and the things you’d forgotten.

Many thanks for your kind comments, stars and hearts on my blip anniversary. I admit I’d forgotten, despite blip reminding me a few days ago.

I had high hopes when President Biden was appointed, but the disastrous abandoning of Afghanistan and uncoordinated departure of international forces is truly appalling and I hate to think about the consequences for women and for aiding terrorism.

Day 519 / Day 30 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The MHRA has approved the Moderna vaccine for use in 12-17 year olds (Pfizer already approved), now the JCVI will consider its use in that age group. In the w/e 6/8, 1 in 20 deaths had Covid recorded on the death certificate in England and Wales per the ONS. A new Covid test has been developed in Birmingham which might be useful for travel as it can give results as accurate as a PCR test in as little as 10 mins and would be cheaper - still 3 months away. An error in the Covid app means thousands might have been told to self-isolate when it wasn't necessary according to a whistleblower. They said the app was contacting people who'd been in contact with someone with Covid up to 5 days before instead of the recommended 2 days - the Govt has yet to comment. New Zealand is going into a snap 3 day lockdown due to a single Covid case. 6 education unions have called on the Education Secretary to take urgent action on ventilation measures in schools - about time as lots of countries have already taken measures. More than 50 children are taken to hospital every day with Covid in the state of Florida. Over 1m over 50s have received a 3rd Covid vaccine in Israel. A staff member at Balmoral has tested positive, but the Queen is to continue her holiday there.
