On the seafront at Whitehead

Richard and I went out for the day with R's sister Diana and her great grandson Arlo (he's 5). Arlo does not have a particularly easy time. In particular, he has something of a struggle with speech; no problem with comprehension, but he doesn't articulate words clearly, and can be very hard to understand. There is a speech and language therapist providing some help, at the moment; but this process has been greatly interrupted and delayed by the Covid lockdowns.  So Diana - a retired primary school teacher - is putting in a lot of effort on this, spending time with him one-to-one. This is especially important, as Arlo has two younger brothers and life at home is busy.

So we went off a little way south of Larne, to the railway museum at Whitehead. And then to the seafront. And then for an ice cream on the way home. A laidback day for all of us.

I got engrossed in looking at the seafront houses in Whitehead, both the brightly-coloured ones and those yet to get a makeover.
