Low cloud

Today is typical Orkney weather, apparently. There’s thick low cloud everywhere, all day, so no view in any direction. Visibility is about 100 feet.

We walk into Stromness via the allotments and get quite damp in the process. The polytunnel is impressive, with vine and sweet corn, but many of the outdoor plots are essentially turf.

In Kirkwall we fail to find a headphone splitter, meaning we will have to share one if we watch a video on the ferry. While walking by the cathedral, I hear my name called and it’s Sean, a colleague from England. There’s no time to chat.

The boat to Sanday is uneventful. We watch the first half of Black Widow. The cloud is unrelenting.

We’re the only people in the B&B. They cook us dinner and then we finish the movie. Darkness replaces cloud on the other side of the glass.
