Out walking ...

... and maybe swimming? Another one in Extras.

We didn’t walk very far today. I think I needed an easy day after the last 3!

More active community Delta cases today. The total is now 148. The Director General of Health is pleased that the numbers haven’t ballooned.
I get the impression that the numbers are expected to start settling soon.
There still aren’t any cases in the South Island; just people isolating after being a close contact in the North Island.

There’s been a lot of criticism from overseas about our Government’s response to this outbreak. None of it addresses the whole situation here, or the Govt’s longterm plan, so it’s really not valid. Of course Covid-19 can’t be entirely eliminated! And neither does NZ want to be isolated from the rest of the world - does any country? We’ve tried with Australia and I’ve no doubt we’ll be trying again in due course.
Basically the plan is get vaccination rates as high as possible, taking care of patients & the health system concurrently, and then gradually opening up our borders safely.
Makes sense to me!
