A day in the life

By Shelling

Last one standing

After my parents died, my father in 82 and my mother in 89,  I was left to go through the home where I grew up, to decide what to keep and what to give or throw away, as the only child. Among the many things I decided to keep was  six crystal wine glasses. They've been with me through all my moves to new places. During the thirty two years one after the other has broke, I remember each one, and this evening, while washing up, the last one broke.

I don't think there is any deep symbolism in this but the event certainly sparked some thoughts about that era, a lot has happened and changed  and I'm grateful that time has brought me to this point in time.
