Wanderings & Witterings

Incy-wincy

Day Two of my brief sojourn in the Granite City.

A wee change from hunting down murals (see yesterday's post) saw me take a bus over to Hazelhead Park and its amazing (probably even more so a few weeks ago) rose gardens.

One of the other features of the park is an area devoted to King Robert I (Robert the Bruce) who donated the lands in which the park now sits to the people of Aberdeen in 1319. There are a series of cairns with depictions of episodes in Bruce's life and this carving of a spider, which alludes to an (apocryphal?) story associated with the Bruce.
