A Day In The Life

Silent Wader & The Dabblers

Happy Friday! • Before running errands we stopped at The Boat Landing for a few minutes to enjoy river views and, perhaps, a predator bird or a leaping sturgeon. We were not disappointed! • I liked the way the morning sun spotlighted this Great Blue Heron wading along the opposite riverbank, and the numerous mallard ducks nearby enjoying the cooling shade • Although herons nest in colonies they prefer foraging alone or with few others. We watched this “tall drink of water” continue to walk along the water’s edge without ever attempting to catch something to eat. Thankfully he ignored the dabbling ducks because herons do eat ducklings :( No worries though because no ducklings were harmed in the shooting of this photo :) • Wishing you all a happy and safe weekend!
