Goodbye August

One of the (few) things I like about this departing month is the way plants deal with the dispersal of their seeds. These broom pods will split open, twist and pop them out when the right degree of desiccation is reached.

The wild carrot (extra) clenches its spent umbril into a tight fist which, when thoroughly withered, will break free and skitter away on the wind, scattering seeds.

Of course, I did have two babies born in August but they too have dispersed, as is only right and proper.
