Wild Wednesday ...

... wacky water Wednesday instead!

As I mentioned yesterday we will be feeling the effects of what was hurricane Ida.  And boy oh boy did we ever!

It has done nothing but rain, rain rain all day.  So not a lot of photo opportunities!  I only went out to the back yard a couple of times in order to put out some peanuts for the squirrels ... which I think they appreciated.

The storm wasn't too bad until very late in the afternoon/evening.  That's when it rained the heaviest.  Thankfully we live uphill to one of the worst corners for flooding.  This corner always floods during these torrential downpours.  We do get some water that comes into our yard from under our neighbor's fence.  But R is a pro at devising ways to funnel the water away from the house. He stayed busy during the storm making sure the water was indeed funneling out like it should. He was also helping our other neighbor as she usually sees more flooding than we do.

Everything was going well until around 8:00 pm when the power went out!  Just in time of Master Chef!!  Darn!  We pulled out some flashlights so that we weren't in the total dark.  Our main concern was the food in the fridge and freezer.  After about 2.5 hours R braved the rain and went out for some ice to put in the fridges and freezers.  And wouldn't you know shortly after he got back with the ice the power was restored!  Murphy's law!

The total rainfall in our area was over 5.5 inches or 13.97 cm.    That's a lot of rain!!!

BTW: the lines you see in this picture are sheets of rain! I wasn't shooting through glass!
