2nd Sat Strollers

September 2nd Saturday Strollers

2nd Saturday of September coming up, and this month's walk is back within the boundaries of Edinburgh ...

... there is a little bit of an ulterior-motive behind this month's route, as fortuitously the 7th Stage of the 'Tour of Britain' finishes in Holyrood Park this Saturday afternoon!

Thus, we'll be starting a little later than usual (11am) and ending up near the "finish-line" for around 3pm, just in case anyone wants to see Mark Cavendish win the Stage ;-)

The walk will thus be an end-to-end --- starting in Shandon and finishing on the Queen's Drive side of Arthur's Seat ...

.... and the photo above is of a new 'urban nature' map of Edinburgh, which we'll use for the walk - the rough details of which follow below:

------------

- meet at 11am, Saturday 11th September beside the main 'Kids Playground' in Harrison Park West
- see local map link here: https://goo.gl/maps/EfounRadJs2SXhK59
- if required; plenty of public transport options (buses) run nearby along Slateford Road

- the rough walking route will be: Shandon - Union Canal - The Meadows - Innocent Railway Tunnel - Duddingston - Dr. Neil's Garden (lunch-stop!) - up and over Arthur's Seat - Queen's Drive, Holyrood Park (for the 'Tour of Britain' stage-finish!)

- there are plenty of local buses from near Holyrood Park to get you back to Shandon and/or wherever you need to head in Edinburgh?

- that should all be around 6 miles, in total
- should take us about 3-4 hours to complete ... including a lunch stop at (or near) the 'Garden Room' cafe at Dr. Neil's Garden
- but please do also bring along some snacks/packed-lunch etc.

- the 'Tour of Britain' should reach the Stage finish-line shortly after 3pm, so we'll adjust the lunch-stop accordingly and ensure we summit Arthur's Seat and still arrive in good time ;-)

If you're interested in coming along, and need any further detail, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly!
