If The Cap Fits!

Many months ago one of the four gate pillars was beheaded by a delivery truck making a tight exit through the wrong gate.

"The Policies" has a gate for vehicles heading north and another gate for vehicles heading south.

The stone mason who is repairing the pillar has endured many setbacks over the last 15 months or so, owing to the dreaded COVID-19. Masons work in groups and although precautions are taken infections are inevitable.

However the cap is due to be fitted to the pillar tomorrow and this morning a variety of staging and other equipment arrived.

Tomorrow we will find out "if the cap fits".

It is a dreich day and yellow warnings have been issued by the Met Office.

We await and see the outcome.

Also noticeable is that the beech tree is starting to drop leaves. The first sign of Autumn.
