View from the garden

I woke up early this morning so made the most of our last couple of hours in Grosmont.  It's been a splendid week!

This is the view down the railway track towards Goathland with Esk Valley village miners' cottages lit up in the early sun - too early for the steam train to go by.  I sat and watched the sun creeping down the side of the valley to eventually light up the row. Rich made it to these houses the other day but Little Dog decided about 300m from them that she'd had enough and began marching the other way.  Given we were both there and she had no other reason for heading home, we believed her.

They were next to an ironstone mine that you could visit - a guy recommended we had a look so Rich had an explore before joining us back in the shade of a tree and a bench near the church in Grosmont.

For us, this morning, it was a packing up day and a steady ride home with a quick pitstop snack in Helmsley before coming home to the boiler not wanting to start.
