Kynance Cove

While we were eating breakfast it started raining, and as the forecast was for rain all day we decided to drive to see Lizard Point and then spend the day driving around visiting little villages. However en route we decided to rather park at the NT car park for Kynance Cove and walk to Lizard Point as the rain was not too bad - in fact it stopped raining and was only drizzling intermittently.

The walk there was just under an hour, it was nearly 3 miles to get to the actual point, so about 6 miles for the return trip. Thankfully the weather was not bad so we abandoned the idea of driving to see villages. We saw seals swimming in the bay and when we got to Lizard Point we had a coffee at one of the cafes there. Lizard Point is the most southerly point in the UK, (and not Lands End which is actually the most south-westerly point). We enjoyed seeing all the coves on the route back again, and this is an image of Kynance Cove, which has to be one of the most picturesque coves we have seen. You can see people swimming and I am sure on a hot summer day it must get quite busy here. The NT car park area was swarming with film crew and security, and when we asked what they were filming they told us they were not allowed to say, and some security staff had large props under tarpaulins which they were guarding so no one could see what they were. I did see some medieval farm implements and when I googled it, the rumour is that it is for the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.

The first extra is looking back at Lizard Point as we were walking towards Kynance Cove.

After the walk we did drive to see Cadgwith and Coverack, but did not spend much time there.

It drizzled most of the late afternoon so back at the hotel Gavin caught up with some work phone calls and emails while I edited some photos.

I am about to go meet the rest of the people on the photography workshop and hear about the plans for the next two days. Usually they are very long days starting well before sunrise and finishing after sunset...
