Kennack Sands, Lizard Coast

It was another 5am start this morning to go photograph the sunrise on Cadgwith beach. Although there was a sunrise it was rather subtle and not the wow factor we had been hoping for - see first extra. Then back to the hotel for breakfast at 8.30am, before heading off to Kynance Cove. It was so busy there - not sure if that was due the good weather, as today was another hot and sunny day, or the attraction of the filming crew there and the hope to see some of the stars of the new Game of Thrones prequel. The second extra shows the conditions of this pretty little cove.

Next stop was Gunwalloe beach, which is a long sandy beach that has some interesting rock geology. We photographed some rock close ups and also some beach scenes. Everyone wanders around and photographs whatever they wish to so we don't end up with all the same photos! I practiced some ICM photography and some abstract shots of waves breaking on the shore. There was a huge seal swimming very close to the shore which was exciting to see. We had our packed lunch here sitting on the beach.

We stopped off in Lizard to get ice creams/coffees before going to Kennack Sands, where I took this image for my blip. I spent ages photographing the waves breaking over the rocks, there were such attractive rock formations there. As the afternoon wore on we went back to Kynance Cove to photograph the sunset. We waited ages for the sun to go down and although the sky got pink, once again the sunset was nothing spectacular.

We finally got back to the hotel after 8pm, and that was the end of the workshop. A couple of people who live not too far away went home, but the rest of us who live further away are staying another night as it was too late to drive home.

Tomorrow we plan to leave in the morning to return home - and no 5am wake up!
