Sgwarnog: In the Field

Admiral

A quiet start to the day with a walk down to the nature reserve and back through the woods.

Red Admiral butterflies have been much more evident over the past week - this is the late summer generation that comes from the migrants earlier in the year. This one was on Butler Lane. Painted Lady, Small Tortoiseshell, Small Copper, Speckled Wood and Small White were also about - the best variety I’ve had in one day for a few weeks.

I’ve had the day off in advance of a family wedding - and later 17yo, 13yo & I were kindly given a lengthy lift to Oswestry thanks to Sister #1 and @Robert10.  Tonight’s blip is therefore courtesy of Premier Inn wi-fi and tomorrow will bring the nuptials of Nephew #1 and catch-up with family old and new.
