Canal Day 13: Sparrowhawk

This had to be the most important thing that happened today aboard Solace. From the foredeck the call went out: "There's a brown bird on the bank!" What? A sparrow? A thrush? A dunnock? I didn't care. I grabbed the camera and went out on the deck.


I've never had the opportunity to follow a sparrowhawk before. In my garden they either dart through or sit on a post in a dark corner. Out on the canal it was exciting to watch one but photography from a narrowboat isn't easy. The engine is noisy and the boat vibrates. Forgive the quality, just share my excitement!
