Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme

But mainly Sage. At least, that’s what it said on the tile box. After four days of intensive effort - and many cups of tea - the tiling is finished in the kitchen. The tiler left yesterday afternoon, with a strict warning that we were not to touch anything for twenty four hours to allow time for all the cement, grout and silicone to fully set.
So we spent the morning doing weight training at the gym and choosing new blinds for the kitchen. The existing blinds don’t really go with the new tiles and we were pleased to discover that we could just have new vanes (a technical term I’d never heard before!) made up to hang on the existing header. Slightly longer lengths required as the new tiles are not as thick as the old ones, and we’d lowered the height of one window sill to make it exactly one tile high from the worktop, thus avoiding the need to cut tiny little strips of tile. While we were in the blinds shop, we noticed they also did curtains now. Things escalated quickly from there, and they’re coming out on Thursday to measure up for new curtain rails and curtains for three rooms! Bit of a departure from the previous plan to just buy a new curtain rail from B&Q and some ready made curtains from M&S, for the lounge and leave the other rooms as they are! But, what the heck, it’s only money and you can’t take it with you!
Anyway, after an afternoon of cleaning, the kitchen is gleaming once again and we no longer have to make cups of tea in the bedroom! But in four weeks time we’ll have to clear everything away again as that’s when the decorators will be starting. We also need to fit a new outside door as we now have tiles where there weren’t any before, and there is a danger of the door bashing into them if we open it too far. We were thinking of a new door anyway, but now it’s not only a must, we also need it to open the other way. It’s going to be busy on Thursday because the door fitter is also coming to measure up on that day. I have a feeling next week is going to be even busier than this one has been!
