Goodwood Revival

What a day! We left home early this morning to drive down to Goodwood in West Sussex to attend the Goodwood Revival day with our friends. It is a festival of motor car racing over a few days where they race old classic cars and most people get dressed up in the style of the 1940's, 1950's or 1960's. I was impressed at the effort some people made with their outfits - there were people of all ages and even young children dressed up. In addition to the motor racing there are many cars on display, and a fairground, dancing halls, stalls selling all sorts of car related things, fashion, hairdressers, and many food stalls and a few restaurants.

Unfortunately it was raining on and off in the morning, but by lunch time it had cleared. We watched a few races then went into a marquee restaurant for our pre-booked lunch which was absolutely delicious, very good food.

We walked so much today, as the course is very large and we walked around to different sections of the course to observe the racing from different viewpoints. At the end of the day when we decided to go home it was another very long walk to get back to the car in the field where it was parked. There were thousands of cars parked and I was worried we would not find our car again, but luckily Gavin could locate it on the car app on his phone! We walked 3000 steps just getting back to the car!

It was a glorious day and I would love to go again. The photo opportunities were brilliant, although I should have been bolder about getting photos of the people. I tried panning shots and some ICM type of shots too.

We got home quite late and I spent a bit of time editing a few of the images to put on Flickr, if you would like to see them they are here.
