Dinner is Served and Served and Served

Beautiful weather today. Sunny with just enough breeze to make it enjoyable to be outside. Up very early. Grabbed muffins for breakfast and the last groceries for our mother’s party. We had the feast ready at noon as promised. That in itself is quite unusual but everything just fell into place. Besides what is shown in my photo, we had more platters ready in the refrigerators to grab as needed. We had a few unexpected guests and one friend who was covered in poison ivy who got a special delivery. Our final tally was 25. Our mother decided on an open house affair so we actually served the meal three times as groups of guests dropped by. The desserts are not in my blip but we had pound cake, ice cream, cookies, fruit, and two ice cream cakes. The hardest part of my day was dividing up leftovers and cleaning up after each service. I had everything put away in time to leave for Mass at 6:00 pm. My sister, hubby and BIL set up all the tables and chairs. The maple tree provided plenty of shade. My BIL also used his time to defrost the outside freezer. We will all sleep well tonight including our mother. All she wanted for her birthday was her family to visit. She was very happy at the end of the day. Folks kept their distance and stayed outside to be safe since COVID numbers are up. Thanks for visiting. Sorry I have not had a moment to return the favor. “Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” – James Matthew Barrie
