The second half of life..

ANZAC Day

I didn't get to the dawn parade as I'd hoped I would but I took time out during the day to go down to ANZAC Park in town and spend a moment or two in my own thoughts at the cenotaph.

Like kiwilizzie, I'm a bit of a pacifist. I loathe guns, anger, fighting and war. But ANZAC Day, like Armistice Day in other parts of the world, always reminds me of how fortunate we are to live where we do in the peace that we do and in the lifestyle that we do. And long may that be. But I know this state is only the result of so many before paying the ultimate sacrifice with their lives as they fought for those freedoms we now take for granted.

And for all those today who are at various sites around the world fighting to uphold those freedoms - I salute you.

Lest we forget.

I had a similar theme last year - a pictutre which I still love and which remains one of my favourites.
