Light Garden Duties

I was getting a little stir crazy being inside, so I did a bit of light tidying up in the garden, including clearing out and cleaning the nest box used by the blue tits and clearing and cleaning the hedgehog house too. I so enjoyed watching the complex nest building in the Spring, the laying of eggs, hatching, feeding, growing and fledging of the chicks. I also cleared away my tomato plants. Light duties, but it wore me out.

Day 564 / Day 75 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
A slight rise in the R rate in England this week, up to 0.8 - 1.1, with a daily growth rate of -3% to 1%. The ONS weekly infection survey in private households to 25th Sept shows 1 in 85 with the virus in Eng (up a tad); 1 in 55 in Scotland (down); 1in 55 in Wales (up); 1 in 65 in NI (down) . The pharmaceutical company Merck says that its antiviral drug molnupiravir cuts Covid hospitalisations and deaths by half in people recently infected (not peer reviewed). The ONS says that 1 in 4 UK were furloughed at some stage during the pandemic - an amazing statistic. There are reports that India will impose a mandatory 10 day quarantine for Brits, as a reciprocal measure as the UK won’t recognise India’s vaccine certificate. The NHS Scotland Covid status app suffered technical issues after its launch today. Kettering still has the highest infection rate in Eng.
