This is one of a set of placemats showing images by the artist Louise Scott who used to live in the village. I love the detail and the way she captures a creature's essence.

It occurred to me that it also encapsulated the inevitable conflict of emotions I always have when LD is with us. A desire to surround her with love, keep her in the nest, and her very natural need to be free and her own person.

The philosophising after red wine and clearing the table!

The nicer weather at the beginning of the day meant the girls could get out and see more windblown waves and some photogenic grey seals plus a good beach walk. This afternoon was more about chats and tea and then a film this evening. A good one, too, on Netflix called 'Guilty'.
