Jersey Lily

Couldn’t leave without posting a picture of the beautiful Jersey Lilies that abound at this time of year.

Some years ago, pre blip, we visited Guernsey in October and I remember them there too. These were taken in the hotel gardens which we had a look around on our return to the hotel late morning, but they are growing on waste ground and at the wayside too.

After breakfast we took a walk across the beach. It was the highest tide we have seen since arriving but by 10.00 am the sea had receded beyond the rocks that divide the bay. We had a coffee at Kismet just above the beach at Ouaisne before walking back, it was very windy, whipping up the sand.

Another look around the church as Chris missed seeing the Fisherman’s Chapel last time and read a bit of the history. The churchyard had a German military cemetery until 1960 when the bodies of the soldiers were repatriated.

A final drink and chat to the very friendly staff before our taxi arrived to take us to the airport. Sitting waiting now for boarding.

It has been a lovely break, we’ve loved St Brelade and the hotel and would certainly return here. I’ve had the windows open every night and just the sound of the sea is magical as is watching it’s changing moods in different lights. It makes you want to take a look the minute you wake up.
So glad we made it!
