A leap of faith

We are on the last few days of our journey to Santiago now, and leaving Pontevedra we took a route known as the "Spiritual Variant" (see here for more details: https://www.osalnes.com/index.php/en/discover/activities/the-origin-of-all-ways/spiritual-variant

The third day of this route is by boat, and I had read many accounts of people who had turned up to catch it at Vila Nova de Arousa, only to be disappointed and end up walking a very long way indeed. The boat depends on the tides, the number of people wanting to sail and (it seems) the whim of the captain. We really didnt want to leave this to chance..A bit of research and we found the websites of the boat companies. I have booked and paid for two places on Thursday at noon. So now we will just have to trust (as with so much on this journey) that it all works out ok.

We have walked 14.6 miles today, with over 2,000 feet of ascent, to reach a small place called Armenteira, where there is a large monastery, a small albergue, a hotel, a couple of cafe/bars and some houses. The cafe was busy busy busy!

Tomorrow is mostly downhill all the way. The rainy weather has gone and the forecast is for hot sunny weather all week and next week too. This is because I asked Luke to bring my waterproof trousers when he meets us in Santiago on Saturday :-)
