To Wales

14.09.21
Mr K disconnected Marshall's battery last night and then reconnected it again (the mechanics version of turn it off and on again!!) in the hope that it would solve the hazard flashing, doors locking and unlocking nightmare. I'm not sure I could have coped with that on a four hour trip to North Wales. We've noticed the last few times it's happened that it's been after we stopped so we decided not to stop tonight, or at least not to turn off the engine. So when Miss E needed to stop for the loo we kept the engine running!! She used the loo in Marshall I should add, not the layby, lit up by the dazzling headlights!!!
Annoyingly not long after this was taken the A5 was closed and we had to go on an extremely scenic detour. We were only ten minutes too late, grrrrrrrrr!
And then again a few miles later.
Apparently they dig up all the roads after 8pm!!
It was a hard journey, Getting closer and closer and more and more beautiful and wondering why we hadn't been up for so long.
Driving the last bit down to to the end of the valley and Dom's village I was so struck by the thought that the last time Dom drove down there he had no idea it would be the last time.
There will be a time you do something and it'll be the last time and you'll have no idea.
My mum and dad were already here, parked by the quarry. They came in their motorhome too.
We let Archie out and he disappeared into the pitch dark. The perils of having a black dog!!
It is so incredibly peaceful here. The odd sheep bleating but apart from that total silence. And stillness.
In a way I feel relieved to finally be here, it's been a long time coming.
But mostly I feel so sad that Dom isn't just down the road, that we're not just in this beautiful place on holiday and the Little Misses can't just run down to Uncle Dom's in the morning. I can't believe we've come to say goodbye.
