Floods

After all yesterday’s rain, the river was up this morning.

We braved IKEA for the first time in years, to get some throws to cover the van seats. I hate having to trail round the one-way system, especially as what we wanted was 1.5 miles after we started, but we got some. The loudspeaker requested people wear masks but few did. Luckily it’s a big place so we didn’t feel uneasy.

They reckon over 200,000 children are off school for Covid-related reasons. Daughter went back to work today - she’s going to do 1/2 days this week. I hope she’s not going to be too tired. For the last few weeks around 34,000 new cases are registered every day and approx 100 deaths. 90% of those deaths are unvaccinated. At least the vaccines are helping reduce deaths and though they don’t prevent many people getting ill at least they are not as ill as they would have been otherwise.
