Ardvreck Castle
We knew the weather was not going to be so good today and I was woken a couple of times in the night by the rain bashing on the velux windows. That in mind, we decided to drive to Lochinver and spend some more money at the Highland Stoneware Shop! In search of cuppas, sadly the two places open in Lochinver were only doing take away and it was too wet at that point to sit outside so we set off back with a view to stopping for lunch at Elphin again.
The cloud lifted somewhat as we journeyed along so we paused a couple of times alongside Assynt to take in the views, including the ruined Ardvreck Castle in my blip. The ruined house in the background made me think of Bond's Skyfall!
By the time we arrived at Elphin the cloud had lifted further and it was warm enough to enjoy our soup outside. As we sat enjoying the view, we were approached by a chap who said he thought he knew us, would you believe another orienteer, this time from Wales. We recognised his face but couldn't put a name to it, but he reminded us that both of his children had been to Lagganlia. Small world again.
Now it's time to pack!
On a completely different note, what on earth was going on in Silent Witness this week? Totally bonkers! I could do a serious rant but the thing which really irritated me was how did that older, smaller matron manage to get the dead care assistant down the step ladder from the attic, through the home without anyone seeing, and down the road to the river (through the flood?!) And how could a taxi come for Jack in the morning when they had all had to wade through the flood just before!!! Aaarrrggghh! Yeeeeed what did you think of it?
