A Day In The Life

An Apple A Day

The sunny weather and 70 degrees was too much to resist so off we went to visit a local favorite orchard. This is a shot of the smaller orchard where Honeycrisp, McCouns, Red Delicious and Cortlands are available to pick; the larger orchard has more McIntosh trees, which are our favorite apples • Did you know every McIntosh apple is descended from a Canada apple tree? • At the end of the 18th century a Scottish emigrant, John McIntosh, found 20 wild apple trees on his farm in Dundela, Ontario. In 1835 his son successfully reproduced that original species and appropriately named it McIntosh, or what we now call Macs • This orchard offers other goodies in their “Apple Shed” - cider, baked goods, maple syrup, candy - all kinds of delicious temptations…and, yes, it’s true, we both suffer from low resistance levels, lol!
