A few of us set off for Angle Tarn but it was so foul up high that we changed the route, coming down to walk along the valley past Brothers Water to Sykeside. We'd hoped to find the pub open, but it wasn't so we ate our sandwiches under the shelter, glad to be out of the rain for a bit. We turned to walk back to Patterdale and managed to catch the bus for the last mile or so.

A communal meal was served in the hut tonight, very nice! I've enjoyed my first meet with the Austrian Alpine Club and I'll definitely join another sometime.

Edit: one of the members has a cottage a couple of miles from where my parents' cottage was, she even knew of friends of theirs. It's a small world!
