Going Round the Bend

G and I went for a walk on Kelling Heath this morning and called in at the Kelling Heath Park platform to photograph the steam train that was due. JohnRH had let us know it was 'members day' and that 4 steam locos were running. Well we waited, and waited for the steam train to arrive from Sheringham, then overheard one of the volunteers saying that it had broken down. So we set off for the rest of our walk and just as we were stepping off the platform we could hear a very poorly sounding steam train in the distance, so got 'back in position' just in time. I wasn't sure whether I preferred the desaturated colour version above or the mono in Extras. When we walked through the holiday park we saw loads of people with large telescopes outside their caravans and then came across lots of stalls selling telescopes, astronomy books and related equipment. I checked th'internet when I got home and it's the Kelling Heath Star Party which is 'the largest in the UK, where hundreds of amateur astronomers meet under the dark skies of North Norfolk.' I hope it's clear nights for them. You never know what you're going to stumble across. I had my flu jab this afternoon, with an appt time of 1:09 - very quick, efficient and painless.

Day 572 / Day 83 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
More than 2m people have now had their booster and third jab in England. Over 90% of over 16s in the UK have had a first dose, and over 80% have had 2 doses. The Director of Public Health for Bath & NE Somerset Council has said 'if thinking it through there is quite a chance you have Covid, even if the PCR test is coming back negative, then regard it as Covid and self-isolate.' There were 4.6m cases of fraud in the UK between Jan 20 and June 21, with fraudsters conning victims out of more than £2bn during the pandemic by exploiting lockdown confusion and isolation. Research published in the Lancet says anxiety and depression rose by over 25% during the pandemic Worldwide.
