Dusty machine

Thank you Laurie fir thinking up this month’s MonoMonday challenges - it’s been fun to research the topics. So many inventions of the so called modern world were invented many years ago.

My entry is the sewing machine, patented by Elias Howe in 1846. This old treadle machine belonged to my grandfather who made my mums clothes when she was a child as amongst his many talents he was a tailor by trade. The original patent fir a sewing machine was issued to Thomas Saint in 1790 but it’s not known if he actually built a working prototype. Elias was the first person to build a working machine. He and Isaac Singer were competing against each other in the market and I guess Howe was the least successful as Singer is such a well known brand. Howe did earn close to two million dollars from his invention so not a bad way to make your money!

Paperwork all sorted and printed for our trip on Wednesday, house tidied and hoovered (though why I bothered as Phin will no doubt she’d everywhere whilst we are away whilst Miss PHL looks after him!!) and many lists made of things to take!

Suitcases still in the lift but we will have time tomorrow as Phin is going to daycare overnight so he’s not around when we leave very early on the 13th.

Thank you for comments and stars - always appreciated.
