Coille Bhrochain

A & her flat mate Ag have come up for the night. We headed over to Garry Bridge and walked along the Garry & the Tummel and came back through the woods.

This picture was taken at a spot where Robert the Bruce rested after the battle of Dunsmore. The name of the woods translate as "Porridge Wood" - such a strange name that I thought I'd made a mistake but on further research I found they were so named because Bruce & his men ate brose (an uncooked type of porridge) while they rested.

We also visited the soldiers leap at Killiekrankie and Loch Dunsmore as Ag had never been. A fun afternoon out.

A venison casserole is simmering in the slow cooker & we have chocolate cake for afters.
