Wednesday wandering

Up early to take out Fletch. No hardship , lovely grounds to stroll around. A greyish morning and a  it damp but the sun came out and there was a rainbow.

Our room is at the far end of the hotel  near to an outside door so perfect for us and Fletch to go out into the grounds.

3 long corridors and 250 paces to the restaurant. Large airy room , tables well spaced out and plenty of sanitising gel .

We were just tucking into our cooked breakfast ( something we never have except on holiday) when the fire alarm sounding. A very loud raucous sound. For a while everyine continued eating in the hope it would stop but then we were asked to vacate the premises.
My only thought was " Fletch" . I wasnt so  much worried about fire.. it's a very long building but I knew the  noise of the extremely loud siren would scare him. As I prepared to run through the grounds to the door nearest to our room the noise stopped! No fire..  We all trooped back in and finished our breakfast. .. though it took a while for my breathing to be back to normal.
Back to our room and a subdued Fletch, but was soon his usual self.

Off to   Burnt Stump Wood for a lovely walk, especially for Fletch then back to Greenwoods and another wander round, before leaving with 2 pots and a horn beam bonsai.  The sun came out and it was such a love.y mild day we decided to go back up  to Sherwood and walk the Giants Trail. So  any amazingly ancient trees.
The 50 minute drive back was busy, .lots of traffic and difficult because the bright sun was so low.  Ut so much nicer than rain!
