Quiet day with Luca

Ruth had an extra day's work today, as part of her continuing in-service training. So Luca was with me; just the two of us, since Richard is with his sister in N Ireland for a long weekend.
I'm almost back to pre-covid infection energy levels; just as well, really :-)
We had a lovely time. As usual, we went across to the park for a while. In the playground, I met a friend from the library volunteering network, and her 11 month old daughter Charlotte. We hadn't seen each other to talk to since Charlotte's birth, so this was a real treat. Luca and Charlotte eyed each other cautiously but soon began to work out compatible manoeuvres in the sandpit.
Apart from that, Luca was happy to get absorbed in 'stuff' around the house: drawers to fill and empty, kitchen bits and bobs to wash in the sink; lego tractors to build and dismantle.  He's speaking in short sentences now, and loving conversation.
At the end of the afternoon I dropped him off back home, and went on to deliver some shopping to Jack, still in his covid isolation.  Jack's slowly beginning to feel better. But he's found it quite difficult, especially the intense fatigue. Marianna and Frieda are due back from Greece on Monday. We talked over how best to manage this, in order not to expose F to infection or oblige M to isolate and miss work commitments (Marianna had covid herself back in the summer). It may be best for M and F to come and stay with us until Jack is officially at the end of his isolation period, next Thursday.  Just another tiny personal covid dilemma, in this bizarre country ...where the govt seems quite relaxed about rocketing infection numbers and about hospitals declaring critical incidents, as ambulances queue outside their doors for hours.
