Battle of Edge Hill

As many of you will know I tend to drone on at great length about have an interest in history :-)

On the 23rd of October 1642 the first battle in the English Civil war was fought on the slopes of Edge Hill between Kineton and Ratley.  The two armies came upon each other by chance and the ensuing battle was inconclusive (this is a significant simplification!)

My main blip is the parliamentarian pikemen charging the crowd, fortunately we were protected by two rows of red and white plastic tape :-)

In the extras, a matchlock musket troop gives fire and part of the royalist army leaves the field.

I've had to crop the musket troop image to get rid of the red/white tape, they were very impressive.
The woman on the right (red trousers) was clearly having a great time. Seen on a large screen the sparks and embers become visible.

More tomorrow at Kineton Sports & Social Club
