Much Pollarded

We went to Calke Abbey this afternoon, finding a path through the woodland which I could follow fairly easily without falling A over T. Lots of lovely oaks in the park which have been considerably pollarded over the centuries.

We came across a copse of silver birch in which fly agaric toadstools were springing up (see extra.) There's a symbiotic link between silver birch and this toadstool. Also puffballs.
