The cycle helmet

I'll give this an invention date of 1997 since the standard this one meets (EN1807) dates from then. 

I'm not convinced they give the degree of protection some like to be believe they do, but probably better than nothing?

They do, however,  give the Daily Mail something to salivate over on otherwise slow news days :-)
