A heron ready for illumination at WWT Barnes

Today we went to the WWT at Barnes and saw many of the big structures which are there ready for their illuminations event. This is the heron which is just opposites the otter enclosure. We saw the otter feeding at 11am which is always interesting.
The extra is of an owl, another of the birds which are illuminated every day from 4pm.
Im not sure about the whole premise of having these illuminated bird structures, and also otters as well as various lighted arches and lights hanging from trees. I’m guessing the WWT has got on the bandwagon of all the other lights events to try and raise more funds. We won’t be going ( I will go to the Glow event at RHS Wisley which is good each year)  and when I looked at the costs I thought that £60 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children ( age 2 or over) was quite a lot as it’s not a very long trail.
