Lots of fungi

To day we went to Claremont gardens and we were amazed by the many varieties of fungi we saw. Without really looking very hard we found eight different types within a couple of hundred yards; some on tree trunks, some on dead wood and some growing in the leaf litter or through grass.
The right hand fungus is Polyporaceae . This fungus was first named and described in 1838.
The left hand fungus is from the family Physalacriaceae. Some of this family are called honey mushrooms.

Claremont NT gardens were very busy today as it’s half term and they have a trail for children. We did this with our grandchildren….there were five stations where they had to find the answer to a clue and write it on their sheet. At the end they were given a nice fridge magnet of a pumpkin.

We then went to a Cote for lunch where they have a half term bargain deal …£30 for two children to have two courses and two adults to have one main course.
