Hillyblips

Herald

About to have a bath I suddenly spotted this moth on the side of the wardrobe. I loved the scalloped wings and orange markings which seemed to spell the letter aitch. H for Hillyblips and hoorah - there is a blip god!

Hurriedly before it flew I hot-footed downstairs to get the camera and trusty torch. Although it has to be said the term hot-footed was a bit of a misnomer as the floors were icy.

This is a Herald moth which hibernates in the winter and I think would have done so in our bedroom had I let it. Putting it on my finger it wouldn't leave to fly out of the window after the photoshoot. They are found where willows and poplars grow all of which we have in abundance round here.
