A view from the window…

…of Tom’s room. I took him to the ER last night around midnight, as he had a low-grade fever, was weak, dizzy, his heart rate was elevated & his breathing was getting worse. He was there all night & transferred to a room this morning. He has tumor lysis syndrome—basically, it’s when the chemotherapy he was given starts killing the abnormal cells too quickly & there are so many cells that it overwhelms his whole system. It affects the lungs, kidneys, heart, etc. Today he’s feeling better as he gets more stabilized, & his breathing is better. The Cancer Doctor who examined him noticed the right side of his abdomen is really enlarged too, so they just x-rayed it. Not sure how long it’ll take for someone to see & give us the results—probably tomorrow morning—I’m guessing his spleen &/or liver may also affected. I haven’t had much sleep so I’m leaving him in good hands & heading home.
