Life through the lens...

Lunch with friends.

Just back from a very enjoyable lunch with friends. Two and a half hours just flew by!
So lucky to have this excellent restaurant in our little village.
Grand Cru is one of Yorkshire’s best.
£ 24.50 for three courses is also a bargain.

I chose Baked goats cheese Filo Parcel with Beetroot and Bramley Apple chutney.
Followed by
Fillet of Chalk Stream Trout on Crushed New Potatoes with Caper and Almond Beurre Noisette.
For dessert, Belgian Chocolate Parfait with Salted Caramel and Honeycomb crumb.
So full I had to leave some of this.
The wine was also an excellent Italian red.
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Then back to ours for coffee.

I think the good food is mainly due to the patron who is also the chef. It does make a difference.
He gave us a wave form the kitchen as we left and we shouted our thanks to him.
Can’t wait to go back in December to taste their Christmas menu.
Next time on our own as our friends are going over to America for three months.
They haven’t seen their new granddaughter since she was a baby, just before Covid started, when they had to come home early.

Our delightful waitress kindly took this photo of us all.
