Carousel

Our first engagement today was at the Covid vaccination centre at Loughborough Hospital for our booster jabs. Pfizer this time. Can't explain why I felt a bit uneasy because it was all over in a trice. Very well organised.

To celebrate, we drove back into town to visit Aziz in The Berber Shop and to see the fair once more. Aziz was ranting about the syndicate at Miraflores and how they're not paying out for repairs to the building. Behaving, I would say, in a typically Moroccan way. Then we adjourned to Caffè Nero once more for coffee. These days, I'm playing on the state of my hip to explain away my unwillingness to stand for long periods.

They do make a very nice tomato and basil soup but don't offer gluten free bread with it. Then into the fray.

I've always liked the old style carousels, all gold with the prancing ponies and carriages. The fair's carousel stands on the corner of Devonshire Lane. It was our last port of call before returning home. I chatted to a photographer there who had mounted his Canon 1DX on a tripod and fitted a tilt/shift lens to correct perspective. He simply held a ND filter in front of the lens without putting it into a  mount. That's confidence for you. Best of luck to him for tuning out the struts of the ride from the sky.

He was there, he said, to take photos of the new paving that's been laid at Wards End. We agreed it would be good to get a view from above. I made him nervous by pointing out the kids playing on the roof of the car park a couple of streets away. He obviously wasn't local.
