Half a Moon

The moon is in its waxing gibbous phase, around 60% in this photo. When it is full next week, it will be called the Beaver Moon or Frost Moon. It was peeking through the trees, so I ran out with my camera to watch the sky show.

Did you know that there will be a lunar eclipse next week on the 19th? It is being billed as the longest eclipse in nearly 600 years. I'll include a link to info about that right here.

According to the link, "at maximum eclipse, the moon's face will be 97% covered by the deepest part of the Earth's shadow and will probably turn a deep red." Sounds like it's worth a look!
