Life through the lens...

By ValC

We will remember them.

After another visit to Pinderfields. This time to the ENT department, for MrC to have his ears dewaxed. Excellent service again.
We came home and went for a walk to the pond and back.
Passing this village war memorial on the way.

Along with the names from both world wars, there is one inscription on the war memorial which for me is more poignant than the rest.
The inscription reads:

“Greater love hath no Man than this,
that a Man lay down his life for a friend.”

Iraq. - 18th October 2005

Sgt Hickey was killed in Basra by a roadside bomb.
He had moved forward on foot to reconnoiter a route for the patrol, when he was hit by the blast.
